چکیده

In this paper, the bisexual branching process in varying environments introduced in [9] is considered and some sufficient conditions for the existence of positive probability of non-extinction are established.

On the Convergence of Multi-type Branching Processes with Varying Environments

Using the ergodic theory of non-negative matrices, conditions are obtained for the L 2 and almost sure convergence of a supercritical multi-type branching process with varying environment, normed by its mean. We also give conditions for the extinction probability of the limit to equal that of the process. The theory developed allows for diierent types to grow at diierent rates, and an example o...

Branching Processes with Deteriorating Random Environments

In this paper, a BPRE (branching process in random environments) is presented, in which a population development in deteriorating environments is described. Some primary results on process growth and extinction probability are shown. At last, two simple numerical examples that attempt to simulate the probability model are given to help understand its mathematical framework.

Asexual Versus Promiscuous Bisexual Galton-Watson Processes: The Extinction Probability Ratio

We consider the supercritical bisexual Galton-Watson process (BGWP) with promiscuous mating, that is a branching process which behaves like an ordinary supercritical Galton-Watson process (GWP) as long as at least one male is born in each generation. For a certain example, it was pointed out by Daley et al. [7] that the extinction probability of such a BGWP apparently behaves like a constant ti...

Bisexual branching processes in a genetic context: rates of growth for Y-linked genes.

A multitype bisexual branching process is considered to model the behaviour of a Y-linked gene with two genotypes in a two-sex population. It is assumed perfect fidelity mating with preference of females for the males carrying certain allele of the gene. Under these assumptions, we study the rate of growth of each genotype on the event of non-extinction. The rate of growth of a genotype may dep...

Bisexual branching processes in a genetic context: the extinction problem for Y-linked genes.

In this paper the inheritance of a Y-linked gene with alleles R and r in a population with both females and males is modelled using a two-type bisexual branching process. It is assumed that the reproductive distribution associated with the R allele can differ from the associated with the r allele and that females prefer to mate with a male having the R allele rather than with a male with the r ...
